THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY AQUIRES NORTH AMERICAN
RIGHTS
TO DISTANT HORIZON’S “PREY”
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (August TK, 2006) – It was announced today
that The Weinstein Company has acquired North American rights to
Distant Horizon’s suspense thriller, “Prey.” The
announcement was made by Michelle Krumm and Maeva Gatineau, co-heads
of Acquisitions for The Weinstein Company and Distant Horizon president,
Anant Singh.
Directed by Darrell James Roodt (the Oscar nominated, “Yesterday,”
“Cry, the Beloved Country,” “Sarafina!”),
the film stars Bridget Moynahan (“I, Robot,” “Lord
Of War”), Peter Weller (“24,” “RoboCop”),
Jamie Bartlett (“Red Dust,” “Beyond Borders”)
and Carly Schroeder (“Firewall,” “Eye Of The Dolphin”).
Written by Darrell James Roodt, Beau Bauman and Jeff Wadlow, “Prey”
is the terrifying story about the peril of an American family on
holiday in Africa that becomes lost in a game reserve and stalked
by lions.
“We are delighted to have concluded this deal for “Prey”
with the Weinstein Company,” commented Anant Singh. “This
deal marks a continuation of our relationship with Harvey and Bob
Weinstein which began 15 years ago. We believe that the Weinstein
Company is the perfect distribution company for “Prey”
in the United States and we look forward to working with them on
the release,” continued Singh.
The deal was negotiated by Eileen Rodriguez, Director of Acquisitions,
on behalf of The Weinstein Company, and Peter Schlessel and Alan
Grodin of Weismann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman, Grodin and Evall LLP
on behalf of Distant Horizon.
“Prey” is a Videovision Entertainment production in
association with Distant Horizon and Ingenious Films, directed by
Darrell James Roodt and starring Bridget Moynahan, Peter Weller,
Carly Schroeder, Jamie Bartlett and Connor Dowds It is executive
produced by Peter Schlessel, Sudhir Pragjee and Sanjeev Singh and
produced by Anant Singh and Helena Spring with the screenplay by
Darrell James Roodt, Beau Bauman and Jeff Wadlow.
