FRUIT CHAN ‘LOOKS UP’ NAKATA
“DON’T LOOK UP” ON THE HORIZON

President of Distant Horizon, Anant Singh, announced today that the re-make of Hideo Nakata’s “Don’t Look Up” which is currently in pre-production, will begin production in Los Angeles on April 14.   The film is produced by Distant Horizon in association with Action 5 and Hakuhodo.

At the helm will be award winning Hong Kong filmmaker, Fruit Chan (“Dumplings”), with a cast that includes Henry Thomas, Kevin Corrigan (“Departed,” “American Gangster”), Lothaire Bluteau (“Black Robe,” “Jesus of Montreal”), Carmen Chaplin (“All About the Benjamins”) and Reshad Strik (“Hills Have Eyes 2”).

Set in and around an abandoned film studio from another era, “Don’t Look Up” charts the unravelling sanity of a director and his crew when spirits from that era invade the film stock of the contemporary production and, in a few stark frames, open a horrifying window on a terrible curse from the past.

Cinematographer Poon Hang Sang will shoot the film with special effects being overseen by Leonard MacDonald and the Creature Effects team whose credits include “300” and “I Am Legend.”

Anant Singh said, “We are delighted to be starting production on “Don’t Look Up” in Los Angeles.  We have assembled a great team with director Fruit Chan and a really talented cast.  We are thrilled to be doing the Hollywood re-make of what is considered to be Nakata’s most frightening work.”

Last year, “Don’t Look Up” was selected to participate in the prestigious Pusan Promotional Plan Development Conference of the Pusan International Film Festival.

Distant Horizon’s Singh and Brian Cox will produce, along with Yoko Asakura of Action 5.  Richard Jeffery and Philip Lee are executive producers.
